Intern with BlueDot!

BlueDot Strategies is hiring an intern for the Spring 2020 semester! This position will be a short-term mid-tier level internship with BlueDot Strategies, a DC-based, veteran-owned, women-led communications firm. We are seeking a candidate to provide support in communications, administration, and policy development support, while we, in turn, provide experience in the areas of communications, program strategy, contracting, international relations, emergency management, and networking to a university student – undergraduate or graduate. A small stipend will be issued to the hired candidate. BlueDot operates out of a work-share building next to the Shaw/Howard University Metro stop.


Position: Strategic Communications Intern
Period: January – May 2020
Hours: 15 hours/week, Monday through Friday


University credit: BlueDot will aim to approve any credit hours towards undergraduate or graduate work that the candidate may have, within expectations. Paperwork for academic submission must be submitted before internship on-boarding to ensure BlueDot is able to fulfill requirements; please have requirements at the time of the interview, if applicable.


Requirements: Must be highly proficient in Microsoft-based programs Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as the equivalent Google-based programs including Gmail and Google Calendar, and Slack. Must be able to use own laptop reliably with access to the aforementioned programs. Candidate must be highly skilled in clear written and spoken communication as the candidate will be conversing with clients representing many nations and industries, and preparing documents that may be viewed publicly or by academics and other industry professionals. Candidate’s schedule allows for flexibility of availability to attend meetings and sit in on calls during standard working hours in the week.


Tasks: Including, but not limited to: attending weekly conference calls with BlueDot team and taking notes; managing a general Inquiries mailbox and directing inquiries to the appropriate parties within the company; manning BlueDot social media accounts; updating BlueDot website with applicable news stories; scheduling calls and meetings for BlueDot founders with clients and partners; managing small events from registration to day-of event set-up and coordination; developing the Spring and Summer 2020 newsletters; developing client-specific research and media reporting; others as needed and directed.
